Our hiding power charts meet the requirements of most popular tests used to determine or compare hiding power and contrast rations of pigmented coating materials such as paint, emulsions and ink .Our charts are UV cured or plastic film covered and their lacquer is solvent resistant. They are suitable for use with most organic, water based or solvent borne coatings.

 

1. Opacity Charts
      Comprised of a simple combination of black and white areas with ample space for reflectance measurement. It is used to test the hiding power of coatings.
      Essential sales criteria for architectural paint are hiding power and yield. In other words.
      - How many layers are necessary for complete coverage?
      - And how many cans will be needed?
      Opacity is a measure for hiding power:
                  Opacity(%)=Y_BLACK/Y_WHITE×100(%)
     100% opacity means complete hiding, no differences can be seen between the drawdown over black and white. Y can be obtained through the reflectometer.

2. Spreading Rate Charts
       Referred to as spreading rate charts, they are designed for checking the visual hiding power. The paint is spread uniformly on a defined test area and the spreading rate calculated from the weight and density of the applied coating. Different patterns are available. Some cards provide areas for opacity measurement with spectrophotometers using large apertures.

All charts are covered with plastic film on two sides!
